We're in the middle of the festival season 2011. As we go on and play those festivals we also integrate some new songs from the new album. They groove and they sound very good, the band plays good too. Looking forward to the "Sturm aufs Paradies"-Tour in November/December.
In two days we play our first festival show in 2011! We headline the evening at the "Feuertanz-Festival" near Nürnberg. We will play a 90-minute rock show. Since I've been in the band we played there two times ... and now we're the headliner. We will also play one new song from the upcoming record which will be released in september 2011. I really look forward to play this great festival.
I bought a new lens! It's a wide-angel lens from Canon - the 17-40 mm. These kind of lenses are great for landscape photos and also work great with unusual perspectives of objects, for example buildings.
Here I share my view with you in our rehearsal-space. This morning we started to play new songs from the upcoming album "Sturm aufs Paradies", which will be released september the 2nd (2011). In november and december we will be on tour with lots of new material. Since last december we started to play one new song ("Eulenspiegel"). During this summer we want to play a few new tunes from time to time. After this 5 hour-rehearsal I can say the new songs are lot of fun to play ... in the view of a musician it's always refreshing to play new stuff ... more soon!
... with photography. I always liked good looking pictures. You see them everywhere ... in magazines, on the web, in ads just every day. With the phone and my last camera the Fujifilm which I took always with me on the road pictures were cool and easy to make. I always run the automatic program and shot what crossed my way. It was fast and easy to capture funny and exciting moments. But there were really cool photos ... which I was sure that I cannot make with the small cam or my phone. It was a bet between Falk (which had a SLR-Cam) and me that lead me to research about cams and photographers. I read many articles and watched videos how pictures were taken. I also had some experience in photoshootings ... but on the other side of the lense. The cam I wanted (after many hours of research) was to be called "Canon 5D MK II" which is a pro-model. I had no hurry to buy the cam ... just waited for a good offer and looked for other cams, which where more effordable. Then the day came where I heard a radiocommercial about saving the amount of taxes (19% in germany) for products over 300 €. I decided to give it a try and went to the shop where I waited in a row ... but the people in front of me wanted smaller cams. I got the last one ... the woman behind me wanted the cam too for her husband. Sorry! Then I started to make my first pics with my new SLR-Cam ... if you want to have a look at some of the pics I did feel free to visit my Flickr-Page. If you have questions just contact me.
We're back from Berlin, where we went in Trosis Studio to mix the new record "Sturm aufs Paradies". The mix started on monday and we were done on wednesday. This is by far the best sounding Saltatio Mortis-Album we've done until now. I am very happy with the result. Now we prepair some new songs which we want to lay over the summer and then in september the record will be released.
Tour starts in november ... until december. Great to have new stuff for you out there ... !
With "Saltatio Mortis" we have two weeks off from the stage. Trosi started mixing the new record and we're getting daily updates with the status of the new songs. They really sound great, so far!
As you can see on the right side, I can present you the new album-cover artwork. The cd will be released september the 2nd 2011 and we'll be on tour in november and december.
During the off-weeks I had the chance to be back on stage with my coverband "Diesel Vanilla". We played in a small pub in Karlsruhe and it went great (with no rehearsal and not playing with each other for about 16 months).
We're back in the studio with Saltatio Mortis. On the second week we will record all the medieval instruments. Bass, drums and most of the rhythm guitars were done in the first two weeks. Today we started to do soundchecks for the bagpipes as wells as the hurdy gurdy. I will record Falk in a second room which give us much more time and flexibility in our work. I think we will release a new podcast episode this week.
