New rehearsal-space![]() Yesterday we moved into our new rehearsal space in Karlsruhe and today we organised our room which will make rehearsals much more comfortable and relaxed. We have plenty of space and more rooms too (I will try to catch those with my camera in some days). Here's a first panorama of our new working-space. Last show with 8 bandmembers![]() ![]() Last night we played a medieval festival in Illingen (with John Kelly, Megaherz & Van Canto). It was the last concert of Saltatio Mortis with Cordoban and Thoron in the band - we wish them all the best for their future. Next week we start to prepair our new program for medieval markets and rock shows - while Alea will be in Berlin to record vocals for our new album which will be available in august 2009. Photoshooting![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I am back from the photoshooting we had for our new album and we also did new shots for the press. We finished in time. Annette did a great job as well as the band and our female make-up artists (everyone has one! - thanks for your patience with the whole band). I am not really sure if you can imagine posing and standing around the whole day but I need some rest now. Day 30![]() Last day of our production in Karlsdorf at the House Of Audio. Well, it was a fantastic production. Thanks to all our guests on this record. The work itself was really relaxed and we had lots of funny moments (which we will share in podcasts and on the new cd). In 10 days vocals will be recorded in Trosis studio in Berlin. I won't be there because I don't need to (I will be teaching in those days) - but I will be there when we mix the songs. We all are very proud of our record which will be released in august 2009. Day 29![]() ![]() Julia (a very good friend of mine) came over to lay down some backing-vocals (choirs) for some of the songs. We played in several bands together (and we do if our scedules allows it) since 2002. She did a fantastic job which puts some song-parts in new directions. The band had lots of fun when she told them old stories. Day 28![]() ![]() More things we tried with other instruments. Some new ideas are good other things were better in the original form. We have the time to try things out which is really great. In the evening, after some more listening and recording sessions, we had a really delicious BBQ together. Day 27![]() After finishing all things that were planned to do here in the studio we had listening sessions today. Trosi premixes every track and we all listen to them to check if there were some mistakes or to get more ideas how something could / should sound. Some of the whistles were replaced with others in the evening.Day 26![]() ![]() Today we finished all our instrumental tracks that were planned in 30 days here at the House Of Audio in Karlsdorf. In the upcoming days we will experiment other instruments for some lines and I will finish some programmings I did in the demo versions. In our free time (when nobody needs you) some of us do sport in the morning or prepair melodies on other instruments. Day 25![]() ![]() We finished pipes today which means that we have only one track bouzouki and some tracks hurdy-gurdy left to do. I think we will finish the recording-process tomorrow (it will depend on Falks paste ;-) This evening we rehearsed some new songs for the upcoming tour ... Day 24![]() ![]() We began the day with whistles which Cordoban recorded on six songs. The rest was quite usual - recording, recording and more recording, while El Silbador learned new instruments. |
